What to Expect

At your first appointment, expect to spend a couple of hours at our office. You will undergo a complete evaluation for your vein problem, including an ultrasound examination, and meet with one of our physicians to discuss our assessment of your vein disease in detail. Dr. Reeder or Dr. Darnell will show you where there are problems, and recommend a treatment plan to address your specific vein problems. We will also explain the specific treatment options recommended, and answer your questions. Our goal when you leave the office is for you to have a thorough understanding of your specific problem, and feel comfortable with the care we recommend.

Be sure to bring a list of medications you are taking, including vitamins and supplements. Some of these may need to be avoided immediately before and after your treatment. We will also advise you as to what you may anticipate on the day of the procedure, and your level of activity following any procedures planned.

In the event your vein disease is mild and limited to spider veins, we will offer cosmetic sclerotherapy treatment at the time of your first visit most of the time. Occasionally, we will have to postpone your first sclerotherapy session until a later date depending upon your schedule, or time constraints.

As always we encourage you to talk with us about any concerns you may have so that we can make sure you are fully informed and confident in the care you receive at the Reeder Vein Institute.
